Registered Specialist in Prosthodontics. GDC NO: 81094.
My name is Dr Theodora Bravis and I am the principal dentist of Thames Dental & Facial Care. I always aim to involve my patients in their dental care, thoroughly explaining their treatment plan prior to embarking upon any treatment. In addition, my ethos is to provide a warm and welcoming environment to all my patients, whether young, or old.
I qualified from Guy’s King’s and St Thomas’ Dental Institute, London, in 2002 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery over five years, and, following this, worked in hospital and private practice in Central London, being exposed to all aspects of general and specialist dentistry. After becoming a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, I returned to Guy’s hospital to pursue specialist training in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics, over four more years. Having completed my training with distinction, I became a registered specialist in Prosthodontics (the provision of prostheses to replace missing teeth for example with dental implants, dentures and bridges).
Through this extensive training, I have gained experience in the functional and cosmetic aspect of restorative dentistry and my special interests lie in aesthetic dentistry which includes tooth coloured restorations, tooth whitening, smile design, full mouth rehabilitation cases, implants, dentures, bridges and implant retained prostheses and treatment of tooth sensitivity and tooth surface loss. I have also completed training in facial rejuvenation treatments such as wrinkle reduction, enabling me to combine dental treatment with facial aesthetics. However I am just as comfortable seeing patients for examinations and general dental treatment and providing routine dental care for all ages.
I hold memberships with the International College of Prosthodontists, the European Prosthodontic Association, the British Society of Restorative Dentistry and the British Dental Association and regularly attend dental conferences on a European and international level where I have presented my research and clinical work. Previously I have also held a specialist clinical teaching post at Guy’s Hospital where I trained dental undergraduates in the field of prosthodontic dentistry and have been a visiting lecturer at the Eastman dental institute where I have trained general dentists in the field of aesthetic dentistry.
Residing in Twickenham with my family, I have also visited several schools in the area, in order to help little ones with their tooth brushing. I find that introducing good habits at a young age can then lead to a life full of happy teeth!
