A veneer is a handcrafted, thin layer of porcelain which is made to fit over the front surface of teeth. If you want to improve the shape, size or position of your teeth or want to close gaps then porcelain veneers are the right way to go.
A common misconception in regards to veneers is that they are bright or blindingly white, much like a lot of celebrities on television and film. However, we have dozens of different shades of white to choose from and we can match them to the colour of your existing teeth or, if your natural teeth are dark and you would like them a little lighter, we can whiten them and then match the colour of the veneers to the new lighter teeth.
What’s Involved? As part of our initial planning stage, we can manufacture provisional models of your teeth, enabling us to see the results of the treatment even before starting. This is an important part of the process, so that each and every patient is happy with the shape and mould of the teeth prior to anything being permanently placed in the mouth. If there are any small details to be changed, this can be done by hand to ensure the optimum result. Following this, we minimally shape the front of the teeth which we want to improve, take impressions (moulds) of the teeth, place temporary aesthetic coverings on the teeth and send the impressions to our laboratory technician who will then handcraft them to our finalised design. Once they are ready, we will try them on to the teeth to ensure that we are happy with the design once again and, finally we will fit them to the teeth.
