WHY CONSIDER HAVING DENTAL IMPLANTS
Loss of teeth is sometimes very difficult for patients. It makes eating more difficult, it affects the way we look and it can lead to self-esteem issues. There is also extensive research to show that tooth loss leads to more dental problems such as, the remaining teeth work harder to bear the brunt of chewing which, can cause issues in other teeth, loss of bone, movement of neighbouring teeth which can then lead to gum and functional problems and shrinkage of our face as teeth support our soft tissues.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
With patient comfort and well-being at the forefront of our treatment regime, we aim to make implant surgery as gentle as possible and minimise post-operative complications which can occur after any surgical procedure, such as pain, bruising or swelling.
Dental implants can be placed gently, quickly and painlessly and are usually placed under a simple local anaesthetic (much like when we place routine fillings). We use a unique dental implant system with a unique placement protocol which makes the surgery very easy and gentle. Our system also manufactures implants with the purest titanium surface in the market. Some patients can be particularly nervous in regards to dental treatment, so we do offer treatment under sedation if necessary.
WHY DO I NEED AN INITIAL CONSULTATION?
It is very important to have an initial consultation in order to find out what your concerns are. Prior to placing any implants we need to take a cone beam CT scan of the area where we want to place implants which will guide our treatment and will show us exactly how much bone you have.
We will also need to make sure that you are dentally fit before the surgery. This means that you may need to see the hygienist or even the periodontist before we place implants, in case of gum disease. We aim to place implants that will perform over many years and for this reason treatment planning is very important.
We are a multi-disciplinary team of dental specialists and for this reason we can offer the best solutions with the most predictable results.
